Region One Grant Writing Workshop

GO Virginia Region One is hosting a free grant writing workshop for regional organizations to build capacity for submitting competitive grant proposals for various types of grant opportunities. The workshop is not limited to GO Virginia and will include process, practices and tools that might apply to a full range of funding opportunities. Catherine Van Noy of Mill Creek Creative will outline the process for grant proposal pursuit, including project design and development, project team coordination and proposal submission.

About the Instructor:

Catherine Van Noy established Mill Creek Creative, a strategic communications firm, in 2009. Since then, she has provided communications and funding pursuit services for a variety of localities and nonprofits across Southwest Virginia. Mill Creek Creative focuses on place-based economic and community development, with a specialty in rural areas. Prior to opening this firm, Van Noy wrote grants for the Radford University Foundation and spent 20 years as a marketing professional in the engineering and architectural sector. Since 2006, she has personally assisted with securing over $15 million in funding from government agencies as well as corporate and private foundations. This background includes work as a proposal writer and as manager of the process, coordinating teams of various stakeholders to produce the most effective document possible while emphasizing impact and measurable outcomes.
